If you could use a few more laughs in your day, mark January 11 on your calendar. Humorist Jerry Nelson will have you chortling... Humorous Author to Speak at the Grant County Library

If you could use a few more laughs in your day, mark January 11 on your calendar. Humorist Jerry Nelson will have you chortling in no time. Nelson, a guest author courtesy of the Friends of the Grant County Public Library, speaks on January 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Everyone is welcome.

Nelson is the author of the book, Dear County Agent Guy, that pokes fun at his life as a Norwegian farmer who milks cows, raises a family, writes a long-running weekly newspaper column, and eventually sells the herd to write a book.  Nelson’s writing has also appeared in the nation’s top agricultural magazines. He and his wife live in Volga on the farm that Jerry’s great-grandfather homesteaded in the 1880s.

The South Dakota Historical Society exhibit “Drawn to the Land, Homesteading South Dakota” also debuts that evening. The exhibit explores the lives of the thousands of homesteaders as they poured into Dakota Territory from across the country and overseas from 1860 to 1920.  The “Drawn to the Land” exhibit will remain available for viewing until February 25.
The Grant County Public Library is located at 207 East Park Avenue in Milbank. Questions? Phone 605.432.6543.
