Millie Dravland

Mildred P. Dravland, age 95, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Milbank, passed away on January 16, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Rev. Thom Bowsher will officiate, and Kristy Liebe and Levi Waddell will assist. The urn bearers will be Millie’s grandsons: Chris Dohrer, Gregg Dohrer, Jon Dravland, Joe Dravland, Dustin Dravland, Logan Dravland, and Trey Dravland. Music will be provided by great-granddaughters: Hallie Schulte, Tayla Waddell, and Madi Bowsher. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Mildred Pearl (Buss) Dravland was born on March 10, 1926, in Wheaton, MN. She was the daughter of William Hunter Buss Jr. and Margaret DeBrobander Buss.

Millie grew up in the Wheaton, MN, area. She attended school in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School. She was united in marriage with Milton “Mick” Dravland on June 4, 1949. They lived in Rosholt, SD, until 1951, then moved to Milbank, SD. While living in Milbank, Millie was a medical secretary for the Milbank Clinic, starting in 1951 and retiring in 1996. She was a member of American Lutheran Church in Milbank and was active with the church circle. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed her many dear friends. Millie loved to watch her husband Mick play amateur baseball for the Milbank Fire Chiefs. She attended her children and grandchildren’s activities whenever she was able.  Mick passed away on May 12, 1999. Millie moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 2005. She enjoyed watching golf on television. She was an avid reader and enjoyed walking and attending activities at Active Generations in Sioux Falls.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Barbara Robinson of Milbank, SD; Tom (Becky) Dravland of Pierre, SD; Steve (Ingrid) Dravland of Sioux Falls, SD; and Todd (Pam) Dravland of Pierre, SD; 11 grandchildren: Ginny (Jeremy) Tostenson, Chris (Barb) Dohrer, Gregg Dohrer, Jon (Becca) Dravland, Joe (Dana) Dravland, Jonna (Bill) Goble, Dustin (Abby) Dravland, Logan Dravland, Kristen Dravland, Trey Dravland, and Marlee Dravland; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marylyn (Jimmy) Gaulrapp of Golden Valley, MN; one brother, William (Vernell) Buss of Wheaton, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her parents: William and Margaret; husband, Mick; two sisters: Marjorie and Betty; one brother, Robert; and one son-in-law, Dean Robinson.
