Lady Bulldogs Run Into Defensive Buzzsaw Against Roncalli

Coming off a great win last week, the Lady Bulldogs’ basketball team hosted top-rated Aberdeen Roncalli (10-0) on Saturday, January 22, and ran into the Lady Cavalier’s defensive buzzsaw. The pressure proved to be too much, and Milbank took the loss at 18-52. 

Maurina Street led the Lady Bulldogs with six points and Claire Snaza followed with five. Isabella Anderson and Siera Wenzl each added three points. Tyra Berry had two. 

Although the Lady Bulldogs struggled to produce points and ended the game at 18 percent from the floor, they also managed to hold the Lady Cavaliers to 50 percent shooting, including just 20 percent from the three-point line.

Claire Snaza pulled down seven rebounds for Milbank. Maurina Street had four, and Isabella Anderson grabbed three. Siera Wenzl and Tyra Berry had two apiece. Averie Engebretson recorded one.

Up next for the Lady Bulldogs?  Milbank JV and Varsity travel to Deuel High School tonight, January 25, to take on the Cardinals. The boys’ teams also travel to Deuel tonight.
