Lady Bulldogs Fly Past Cardinals 45-28

The Lady Bulldogs glided to a 45-28 victory against the Deuel Cardinals on Tuesday, January 25, in Clear Lake.

Deuel’s biggest lead was three points early in the game, but Milbank regained the lead by the end of the first quarter and led 10-7. Coach Brian Pauli said, “The game started off back and forth (everyone) trying to get a rhythm on offense.” The Lady Bulldogs eventually found their groove and soared ahead by as many as 25 points in the third quarter. 
 “I thought Siera (Wenzl) came off the bench and sparked the team with hustle and high energy,” commented Coach Pauli.  “In the second and third quarter, we were able to create some turnovers with our press.”

Perennial high-scorer Maurina Street earned a double-double. She pumped in 19 points and brought down 13 rebounds. Claire Snaza dumped in 10 points. Isabella Anderson and Tyra Berry each added six points. I. Anderson had four rebounds and three assists and Tyra Berry had three rebounds and one assist. 

Tatum Berry had five rebounds and two assists. Wenzl made four points, nabbed four rebounds, and had an assist. Averie Engebretson also contributed three rebounds and Josie Riveland took down one.
The Lady Bulldogs finished at four of ten from the free throw line. I. Anderson was perfect at three of three.

Harley Hennings was the Cardinals’ leading scorer. She dropped in eight points. Haley Winter, Josie Anderson, and Taylor Bauman each contributed six. Jalyn Bury added two.

Deuel made 50 percent of their shots from the charity stripe, and both teams sunk 34 percent of their field goals.
