Wildung Scores 17 — JV Bulldogs Defeat Deuel in OT

Jaxson Wildung scored 17 points and pulled down four rebounds to boost the JV Bulldogs to a 44-40 overtime victory against the Deuel Cardinals in basketball action on Tuesday, January 25, in Clear Lake.
The Bulldogs led by six points in the first, trailed by seven in the second, and lagged behind 18-23 at halftime. At the end of three, they still were behind 28-30. But, when the buzzer sounded at the end of regulation, it was all tied up! The Dogs tipped in seven to the Cardinals’ three in OT to take the win. Wildung’s 17 points was tops for Milbank and all scorers. Tice Mursu added eight points and five rebounds. Joe Schulte had six points and four rebounds.
Tanner Hallquist and Emmett Hanson stepped in to add four points and one rebound apiece. Max Lightfield had three points and three rebounds. Will Snaza contributed two points and two rebounds. Aiden Ludvigson snagged two rebounds.
Carter Leddy was the top scorer for the Cardinals. He dumped in 15 points. Devon Moore added nine, and Ricky Berndt made five.
The Bulldogs shot over 64 percent from the floor in regulation and 55 percent in OT for a game total of nearly 59 percent. They finished at 40 percent from the free throw line.
The Cardinals made 53 percent of their field goals in regulation and 30 percent in OT for 40 percent. They ended with 70 percent from the line by knocking in 80 percent in the first four quarters and nearly 63 percent in OT.
Mursu fouled out for Milbank as did the Cardinals’ starter Owen Quail. Two other Deuel starters, Moore and Carlson, ended with four apiece. Milbank’s Wildung and Hallquist each skated to the end with four.
