The Missoula Children’s Theatre will hold auditions for the play The Emperor’s New Clothes on Monday, February 7, at St. Lawrence School in Milbank. Auditions start at 1:45 p.m. Actors should plan to stay for two hours. Some of the cast members will also begin their first rehearsal following auditions from 4:15 – 6:15 p.m.
Many roles are available — from the emperor to royal hatters, silkworms, and assistant directors. Students from kindergarten through high school are encouraged to try out. No prior training or preparation is required. The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions arrive complete with costumes, scenery, props, and makeup.
Organizer Susie Wendland says, “Milbank wasn’t able to offer a Missoula Children’s Theatre event in 2020 due to Covid. When I heard they had to cancel again last fall, we met at St. Lawrence and figured out a way to make it happen this winter. We feel it is important to continue this wonderful opportunity in the Milbank community for our children who are interested in the fine arts.”
“We are proud to host this event to inspire and encourage children to embrace their individual creativity,” Wendland says. “And we appreciate the Leo P. Flynn Estate, the Valley Queen Charitable Foundation, and St. Lawrence LIFE for their support in making it happen.”
The Emperor’s New Clothes will be presented on stage at Milbank High School on Friday, February 11. The matinee performance is at 1:15 p.m and the evening performance is at 7 p.m.
