The Bulldogs hosted Groton at the Milbank Armory on Thursday, February 10. The Tigers ruled both ends of the courts and the Bulldogs struggled to withstand their aggressive attack. The Dawgs went down with a score of 45-66. Milbank drops to 8-8 this season, but remains in first place in Region 1A at 5-1.
The Bulldogs led by three points in the first quarter, but it was their largest lead of the game, and they trailed 24-38 by halftime. Wylie Mursu led the Pack. He scored 13 points and took control of six rebounds. Garrett Mertens was next with nine points, three rebounds, and three assists. He also had a steal.
Joe Schulte stepped up for seven points and a rebound. Kellen Hoeke knocked down five points, including a three-point lob, and grabbed two rebounds. Stevie Ash put up three points to go with his two rebounds and one steal. Isaac Schulte added a free throw.
Overall, the Bulldogs dropped in 47 percent of their shots. They hit five of 12 from behind the arc for nearly 42 percent. From the free throw line, they went four of seven –all in the second half — for a total of 57 percent.
The Tigers’ leading scorers were: Tate Larson and Kaden Kurtz with 16 points and Lane Tietz with 14. Larson also led Groton with seven rebounds. Tietz and Jacob Zak recorded three steals apiece.

JV OT Game The Tigers slipped by the Bulldogs 55-53 in an exciting test of stamina. The Bulldogs came from six points behind in the last few minutes of regulation to push the game into OT.
Joe Schulte score 18 points for the Dawgs. He also pulled down seven rebounds and pulled off four steals. Jaxson Wildung and Caleb Rick tacked up 10 points. Max Lightfield added five. Tice Mursu and Tanner Hallquist made three apiece. Will Snaza and Aiden Ludvigson each added two.
Simon Cole was Groton’s leading scorer with 23 points and four rebounds. Logan Ringgenberg posted 11 along with his seven rebounds.

The Freshman Bulldogs defeated the Groton Tigers 39-35. Graham Lightfield and Mason Meister each scored 11 points for the Bulldogs. Bryan Meyer and Josh Pederson scored seven points apiece. Emmett Hanson led the boys with 10 rebounds.
