The Milbank Kiwanis purchased and donated books in Spanish for the English Language Learner program at Milbank Middle School. Members of Kiwanis worked with Christine Townsend, the Milbank School District’s ELL lead teacher, to select books of high interest in the native language of newcomer English language learners.

Kristopher Evje, principal of Milbank Middle School says, “It is very important for the students who are learning English and the culture of the school in the United States to still have access to rich material in their native language. It is especially important early on in their time here, and we feel fortunate to have a wonderful community that steps up to support our school in meeting the needs of our diverse learners.”
