The MHS boys’ tennis team played their first match of the season against Yankton on Friday, April 8, on the road. The Bucks defeated the Bulldogs 9-0.  Benett Street is the one senior on the court this season for the Bulldogs.

Milbank’s head coach, Abbey Trapp, said, “The boys did lose, but they played very well. Yankton placed second last year at the state tournament, so I was very pleased with winning a couple of games. The boys came off the court with positive attitudes and stated they thought they hit well and made good points.” 

At No. 1, Benett Street was defeated by Gage Becker at 0-6 and 1-6. Joe Schulte was defeated by Ryan Schulte at 0-6 and 0-6. Gregory Grabow was defeated by Zac Briggs at 0-6 and 0-6. Charles Whitsitt was defeated by Harrison Krajewski at 0-6 and 0-6. Will Snaza was defeated by Keaton List at 0-6 and 0-6. And, at No. 6., Daniel Shelstad was defeated by Miles Krajewski at 0-6 and 0-6. 

Also, Isaiah Kortsjens was defeated by Dylan Ridgeway 0-6 and 1-6. Max Schuelke was defeated by Corrigan Johnke at 1-6 and 1-6, and Zander Boswell was defeated by Patrick Kralicek at 1-6 and 1-6.

In doubles play, at No 1., Street and J. Schulte were defeated by Becker and Briggs at 0-6 and 0-6. At No. 2, Grabow and Whitesitt were defeated by R. Schulte and List at 1-6 and 1-6. At No. 3, Snaza and Korstjens were defeated by H. Krajewski and Ridgeway at 1-6 and 0-6. 

Also, Shelstad and Schuelke were defeated by M. Krajewski and Johnke at 0-6 and 0-6, and Boswell and Carlos Olivares were defeated by Kralicek and Hunter Eggen.
