Still Got Game—This year marks the Third Annual MHS Alumni Men’s Basketball Tournament and the first women’s exhibition game. Both will be played on Saturday, April 16, at the Milbank Armory. Doors open at 9 a.m. with games starting at 10 a.m. Admission for fans is free, but a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Bulldog Booster Club. Bring your family and friends and pack the stands.

Here is the lineup: The first game is Team Hunt taking on Team Aho in the men’s division at 11 a.m. Team Hartman will face off against Team Quade in the second semifinal contest at noon. The third-place battle will be at 1
p.m. and the championship game at 2 p.m.

Hunt team members are Matt and Mike Paulson, Austin
Hunt, Kevin Hagen, Adam Jones, Matt Lenards, Preston Morton, Isaiah Wollschlager nad Kacen Huber.
Members of the Aho team are Lance Frogner, Craig Barlund, Alex Cantine, Nolan Foss, Cody Dockter, Jacob Jackson, Derrick Aho, Jonny Ash and Jordan Riley.
On the Hartman team will be Isaac Lindquist, Tristan Hall, Riley
Wollschlager, James Weber, Evan Erickson, Noah Steinlicht, Tanner
Mertens, Will Cummins and Carter Hartman.
Playing for the Quade team are Cory Lesnar, Jalen Snaza, Dylan Fox,
Kyle Montag, Mitch Quade, Chandler Perry, Cole Dockter, Jake Fox
and Mason Riley.

The women’s game is scheduled for 10 a.m. start. Teams have not been set but those indicating they will participate include: Lindsey
Mertens, Jaecy Engebretson, Gabbi Cummins, Katie Vander Wal, Molly
Rick, Shea Hooth, Mac Schuelke, Shelby Hooth, McKenzie Mertens,
Kaley Withers, Cori (Redmond) Pierce, Tayla (Schulte) Waddell,
Rachel Wollschlager, Leah Anderson, Amber Wollschlager Thomas, Caitlyn (Wojahn) Graf and Bre Schwandt (Milbank Teacher).

Adam Cummins, Jared Engebretson, and Ryan Scoular will serve as the officials.

Logan Diede, Milbank Area boys basketball coach, is organizing
the event. He says, “I started the tourney in 2019, then in 2020 we had to take a year off due to Covid.  Last year, we held it again and had a great turnout.  This year, we increased our men’s numbers and will be doing a four-team tournament. Exciting news, too!  We’ve added a women’s game to the lineup. More exciting news!  We’ve added concessions this year.” 

The entry fee is $20 per player. Checks can be made payable to Bulldog Booster Club. Feeling a little rusty? The gym will be open Friday evening to help you get in some extra practice time.
