The Lady Bulldogs’ golf team finally got into the swing of things. The girls completed their first meet of the season, and they hit ’em long and straight. Milbank brought home first place from the Pheasant Invitational at Fisher Grove Country Club in Redfield on Thursday, April 28. The Lady Bulldogs finished with a score of 435 to edge out Roncalli at 443.
Mark Keeton, Milbank’s head coach, said, “It felt great to get outside, enjoy some great weather, and complete our first full meet. I was very pleased with how well the girls played considering the way this spring has gone so far. Three of our golfers finished in the top five. They were led by Shaylee Schuchard, who broke 100 for the first time in competition.”
Schuchard earned second place with her exceptional round. She shot a 46 on the front nine and combined it with a 51 on the back nine for a 97. Carly Guthmiller of Groton Area took first place at 95.
Lady Bulldog Marion Mischel shot a 106 (53-53) for fourth place. Camila Monroy was just two strokes back at 108 for fifth place. Ella Kasuske carded a 124; Jaclyn Wiik recorded a 128; and Mia Van Lith had a 135.
In the team standings: Mobridge was third at 455; Groton Area took fourth at 465; and Aberdeen Central’s JV squad took fifth at 470. Redfield did not field a complete team.”Hopefully, this weather straightens out soon so we can get some much-needed practice out at the course,” added Coach Keeton.
