Gerald A. Doschadis, age 86, of Wilmot, SD, passed away on May 11 2022, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Wilmot Lutheran Church in Wilmot, SD. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Reverend Sheila Pohl will officiate the service and burial will be at the Wilmot City Cemetery.

Gerald Arnold Doschadis was born on August 15, 1935; the son of Leonard and Fern (Schrader) Doschadis. He attended school and graduated from Wilmot High School. On January 22, 1955, Jerry was united in marriage with Dorothy Jean Davis at the Wilmot Lutheran Church. Together, they were blessed with 63 years of marriage and four children: Dale, Patrick, Tamera, and Sheri.

Jerry owned and operated Doschadis Garage and worked part-time at the United States Post Office. He later became a full-time rural mail carrier until his retirement.

Jerry was an active member of Wilmot Lutheran Church. He was on the Wilmot Fire Department for many years. Jerry was very talented and skilled in carving wooden ducks. Jerry enjoyed hunting, especially East and West River hunts with his son, Pat, and goose hunting with his grandkids. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Jerry is survived by his children: Pat (Anita) Doschadis of Mina, SD; Tammy (Kevin) Jurgens of Wilmot, SD; Sheri (David) Hammer of Wilmot, SD; grandchildren: Mandy Weber, Nathan (Melissa) Jurgens, Landon (Taylor Kiehl) Hammer, Logan (Andrea Schubloom) Hammer, Rachel (Mike) Beumer; great-grandchildren: Samantha, Ethan, Hannah, Carson, Addison, Karli, and Chris; brothers: Bill Doschadis and Jim Doschadis; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy in 2018; son, Dale Doschadis; great-granddaughter, Savannah Beumer; brother, Bob Doschadis; and many other family members and friends.
