According to Milbank’s head coach, Eric Townsend, both MHS teams brought home Region 1A title plaques from the meet in Clark on Thursday, May 19.  Townsend said, “The boys have won the last six Region 1A meets. The girls have won the last three Region 1A team titles.”  

The boys’ Bulldog relay team of Kaden Krause, Nick Batchelor, Garrett Mertens, and Bennett Schwenn shattered a 58 year-old Milbank school record held by Loeschke, Arlin Conrad, Russ Schmeichel, and Gerald Hermans. The 2022 team clipped the 1964 record by over 2 seconds at 3:26.42.  Bryan Meyer also broke the ninth-grade boys 800-meter record with a time of 2:03.83.  

“Both teams competed really hard, and there were 30 season bests by both teams at the meet,” Townsend added.  On the boys’ team,15 qualified for the state meet, and on the girls’ team, 12 qualified for the state meet.  

What’s up next for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs? Both teams travel to Sioux Falls this weekend, May 26-28, for South Dakota’s 2022 Class A Track and Field Tournament.
