Bennett Schwenn, a member of the MHS Class of 2022, was chosen as the Class A Field MVP at South Dakota’s 2022 State Track and Field Championships. The 117th annual meet was held from May 26-28 at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.

Schwenn won his third consecutive Class A triple jump title with a leap of 45 feet 11.75 inches. He also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet 8.75 inches. Schwenn won the MVP award for his prowess in the field division of the meet, but he also excelled in the track competition.

Schwenn, Kaden Krause, Nick Batchelor, and Garrett Mertens formed the Bulldog’s 1600-meter relay team that brought home the state title for Milbank. Schwenn also completed the 200-meter dash in 23.29 seconds for a ninth-place finish. Junior Blake Boyster of Custer was selected as the Class A Track MVP. Junior Gracelyn Leiseth of Hamlin received the Girls Field MVP award, and sophomore Berkeley Engelland of Mount Vernon-Plankinton was chosen as the Girls Track MVP.
