The Milbank Area Lions Swim Team (MALST) competed at the Too Cool for the Outdoor Pool Meet on Saturday and Sunday in Watertown. Katie Sinner, one of the coaches for the Milbank squad, said “This was the first meet of the year, and our swimmers did great. There were 11 events in which Milbank took first place and 28 events in which our swimmers placed second or third. We also saw some great time cuts.”

First place finishers included: Zoee Henrich– 25-meter backstroke Mason Pauli–  25-meter backstroke, 50-meter backstroke, and 100-meter backstroke Logan Dexter– 50-meter breaststroke, 100-meter breaststroke, and 100 IM Thomas Bass–100-meter backstroke Savanna Osowski–100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter breaststroke, 200-meter freestyle, and 50-meter freestyle Maurina Street– 200-meter freestyle

Seven MALST swimmers have also already recorded short course state-qualifying times. They are: Osowski, M. Street, TyLynn Wellnitz, Bass, Dexter, Pauli, and Liam Street. 

Coach Sinner noted, “Pierce Gapp is new to our team and placed third in the 25-meter backstroke at his first swim meet.  It’s great to have the swimmers back in the pool, and I look forward to a great summer with them.”  
Sinner will be working with Assistant Coach Sara Johnson, Assistant Coach Will Karels, and Chuck Baecheler, head coach for the Watertown Area Swim Club.
