Craig “Stumpy” Tempel, age 61, of Wilmot, SD, passed away on June 29, 2022.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot. Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn will officiate and burial will be in the Wilmot City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and continue on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service. Casket bearers will be: Casey, Kyle, and Chase Tempel, Nathan Tempel, Jesse Cameron, and Ray Christensen.
Craig Steven Tempel was born on November 2, 1960, in Sidney, MT. He was the son of Gerald and Mildred (Adolph) Tempel. Craig lived most of his life in the Wilmot area. He graduated from Wilmot High School. He was united in marriage with DeeAnna George on April 20, 1985. They were blessed with four children: Katie, Casey, Kyle, and Chase.
Craig owned and operated Craig’s Portable Welding. He also farmed in the Wilmot area. He enjoyed welding, milking cows, hunting, and fishing. Craig loved horses and trail riding. He had a great sense of humor. He had a big heart and a caring spirit. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Katie Tempel of Aberdeen, SD; Casey (Bre) Tempel of Tea, SD; Kyle (Robin) Tempel of Aberdeen, SD; and Chase (Bailey) Tempel of Garretson, SD; six grandchildren: Jamie, Wyatt, Peyton, Carter, Grady, and Sylvie; his mother, Mildred Tempel of Wilmot, SD; his ex-wife, DeeAnna Tempel of West Port, SD; siblings: Laura Lucero of Wilmot, SD; and Myron (Chris) Tempel of Wilmot, SD.
Craig was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Tempel.
