Milbank police are investigating a chain of vehicle burglaries believed to have occurred during the early morning hours of July 11.  Milbank Police Chief Boyd VanVooren says, “The department received a report at about 6 a.m. of a suspicious person looking in vehicles near the St. Williams Care Center. An officer responded and searched buildings, campers, and backyard areas, but the suspect was not apprehended.”

“The department received six more calls regarding vehicles that had been burglarized and two reports of stolen bicycles later that morning,” Chief Vanvooren says. “We believe several other vehicles were gone through without anything taken.” Residents are reminded to exercise caution and to remove their keys from vehicles and lock them.

The incident remains under investigation. Chief VanVooren says, “The possible suspect was wearing white shorts and a backpack.” If you have any information regarding this criminal activity, contact the Milbank Police Department.
