David J. Reupke, age 78, of Minneapolis, MN, died on July 10, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. Pastor Janet Tengbom Warnes will officiate, and inurnment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Grant County, South Dakota. The family encourages guests to wear masks at the service.

David Joseph Reupke was born on August 9, 1943, at home in Charlestown Township, Redwing County, MN. He was the son of Friederich and Cecilia (Turbes) Reupke. After high school, David worked at the granite quarry alongside his dad for a few years, 7-Up Bottling Company in Ortonville for several years, and a rock crushing company south of Ortonville. He served in the Minnesota National Guard for many years and later transferred to the South Dakota National Guard, retiring after 27 years of service.

David worked at Kato Engineering in Mankato, MN, for over 25 years before retiring and returning to live in Ortonville, MN. On June 23, 1979, he was united in marriage with Mavis Pinkert at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, and they were blessed with three children: John, Denise, and Annette. David loved to mow yards on his riding lawn mower. He volunteered to maintain Zion Lutheran Church’s lawn and would often mow senior citizens’ lawns for a little or nothing. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Yankees and Cowboys.

David is survived by his wife, Mavis of Minneapolis, MN; son, John (David) Christle of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Annette Reupke of Fairmont, MN; brothers: Dennis (Lolita) Reupke, Richard (Pati) Reupke, Jerome Reupke, Roger Reupke, and Jerry (Judy) Reupke; sisters: Jan Gibbs, Pat (Merlin) Moser, and Louise (Greg) Herling; sisters-in-law: Vicki and Wileen Reupke; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Denise Reupke; brother, Gene; sister, Gladys; brother-in-law, Don; and sister-in-law, Lynne.
