Coach John Trevett, with assistance from MHS students and alumni, held a pole vaulting camp recently for athletes in grades six through eight. Trevett said, “We had a great turnout of 17 young vaulters. All the kids did fantastic, and they all got to jump at the end of the day. We have a lot of talented kids in Milbank!”

According to Trevett, each athlete had a personal coach from either the current team or a former program.  Assistant coaches included: Maggie Kruger, Katie Kruger, Rylee Scoular, Jacy Dexter, Karson Weber, Jack Sandvig, Jayden Johnson, Joe French, and Sam Rick. Greta Snaza, who won the women’s state championship in 2021, vaulted as the special guest.
Pole vaulting had all but disappeared as a sport at MHS, but it seems to be gaining momentum again. Trevett said, “We are approaching our seventh year since pole vaulting returned to Milbank.”
