Gary Rauscher, age 74, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on August 11, 2022, at Ortonville Area Health Services Hospital.
Private family services are to be held at a later date.
Gary Wallace Rauscher was born on April 17, 1948, in Wagner, SD, to Andrew and Lillian (Kokesh) Rauscher. He moved to Big Stone City in 1979 and worked as a maintenance mechanic at the Big Stone Cheese Factory, a guard at the Appleton Prison, and a maintenance man for Cenex.
Gary enjoyed his life on Big Stone Lake, and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed traveling particularly Louisiana, Alaska, Michigan, and Washington. He also enjoyed many river-fishing trips around Kansas and Iowa. His main hobbies included; fishing, hunting, and tinkering with anything from fishing lures to vehicles.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Nichole Gropp of St. James, MN; granddaughter, Kennedy; grandson, Mattias; brother, Tom Rauscher; sister, Carol Cullens; along with several close friends and neighbors.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Andrew and Lillian Rauscher; brother, Vern Rauscher; and sister, Betty Malek.
