Dom Boerger, a pitcher for the Milbank Firechiefs baseball team, was named to an all-tournament team for his performance in South Dakota’s 90th amateur baseball state tournament earlier this month. Boerger was one of 25 Class B players honored by the South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Association.
During the 2022 tournament, Boerger pitched two complete games and posted a 1-1 record. He allowed 17 hits in 17 innings and gave up seven runs. He pitched 37 strikeouts without a walk. In the Firechiefs’ last game of the tournament, which came in the second round, Boerger threw 128 pitches in eight innings. He fanned 17 batters, struck out the side four times, and sat down nine batters in a row. He gave up three earned runs on six hits.
Other Class B honorees from the 2022 tournament played for teams from Alexandria, Dell Rapids, Dimmock, Garretson, Kimball-White, Lennox, Mount Vernon, and Winner-Colome.
