MHS will celebrate Homecoming 2022 from September 12 through September 16.  Activities are slated for the entire week, beginning with Coronation on Monday, September 12, at 7 p.m. in the Milbank Armory. 

Senior class students nominated as royalty candidates include: Queen – Averie Engebretson, daughter of Amanda and Jared Engebretson; Laney Forrette, daughter of Lisa and Jim Forrette; Ellie Neugebauer, daughter of Pamela and Justin Neugebauer; Rylie Overby, daughter of Tosha Overby and Steve Overby; Maurina Street, daughter of Jodi and Jason Street; and Camryn Wiese, daughter of Andrea and Scott Wiese. 

King –  Aiden Foell, son of Heather and Matt Foell; Eli Johnson, son of Sara and Bryan Johnson; Max Lightfield, son of Kim and John Lightfield; Aiden Ludvigson, son of Andrea and Dan Laskowske; Justus Osborn, son of Dawn and Scott Hoeke; and Will Snaza, son of Beth and Darrin Snaza. 

Coronation will feature the introduction of the royalty, a skit performed by the student council, and the crowning of this year’s Homecoming King and Queen. Tatum Berry, the 2021 Homecoming Queen and Bennett Schwenn, the 2021 Homecoming King– both students at USD– will preside over the event. Admission is $2 per person for first graders through adults. Activity passes will be not be accepted.

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is video games. The senior class chose PacMan, the junior class picked Guitar Hero, the sophomores decided on Pokeman, and the freshmen selected Donkey Kong for their float themes. The parade is set for Friday at 2 p.m. Contact the MHS office if you would like to enter a float in the parade.

Homecoming buttons will be sold for $2. Order forms for Milbank Elementary students will be sent home with the students and are due back to classroom teachers on Thursday, September 8.

On Monday, September 12, student council members will sell buttons at St. Lawrence School from 7:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m.  Tuesday through Thursday, Milbank Middle School students can purchase a button from 7:45 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. outside the middle school office. High school students can purchase buttons all week from any student council member while supplies last.

Bulldogs Fighting Cancer will sell Homecoming beads. Order forms will be sent home with the students. Forms are due back to classroom teachers on Thursday, September 8.

Dress up days include: Monday – Adam Sandler Day (baggy clothes) Tuesday – Senior Citizen vs. Baby Day Wednesday – Character Day Thursday – Holiday Day — 9th grade – 4th of July/ 10th grade – St. Patty’s/ 11th grade – Christmas/ and 12th grade – Halloween Friday – Maroon and Gold Day

The Bulldogs take on the Dakota Valley Panthers in the Homecoming football game on Friday, September 16. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at AB Campbell Stadium.  Bulldogs Fighting Cancer will host tailgate festivities prior to the game and starting at 4:30 p.m. Fans can feast on a roast beef sandwich, chips, a bar or cookie, and a drink for $5.

Following the football game, the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a movie on the football field. All students and MHS alumni are welcome to attend.

Homecoming week extra-curricular activities include: *Monday – Coronation *Tuesday – Girls Tennis at Madison (SD), Boys Golf at Redfield, Cross Country at Sioux Falls, and Volleyball at Home vs. Waubay/Summit *Thursday – Golf at Tiospa Zina and Varsity Volleyball at Home vs. Dakota Valley *Friday- Homecoming Parade, Girls Tennis at Sioux Falls, and Football at Home vs. Dakota Valley *Saturday – Volleyball at Ipswich and Cross Country at Huron.
