Mark Keeton, head coach of the MHS boys’ golf team, said, “Redfield is always an interesting meet as we play 20 holes instead of the traditional 18. Fischer Grove has an extra hole named Perm’s Pointe that was put in because the James River floods at times in the spring and causes number nine to be unplayable.”

At the invitational on Tuesday, September 13, Roncalli golfers took the medalist honors and the top four places. Roncalli also won first place as a team at 328. Sioux Valley was next at 349, Groton had a 369, and Milbank took fourth place at 393. Redfield at 401 and Sisseton at 443 came in at fifth and sixth place respectively.

The top finisher for Milbank was Jonathan DeBoer. He shot a 94 to earn 14th place. Owen Fischer and Josh Keeton each carded a 94 for 19th and 20th places. Greg Grabow shot a 103. Charlie Peery had a 107, and Carter Phinney carded a 115.

Coach Keeton said, “The boys did a good job keeping our team score under 400 again even with the extra eight holes that counted on the team score.  It shows how far they have come in a year.”

Top 10 individual finishers (20 holes):1) Sawyer Henrich, Roncalli, 76; 2) Finn Anderson, Roncalli 83; 3) Harper Schnadel, Roncalli, 84; 4) Jesse Hernendez, Roncalli, 85; 5) Maverick Nelson, Sioux Valley, 86; 6) Brevin Fliehs, Groton, 87; 7) Kyler Bezdichek, Sioux Valley, 87; 8) Kyan Overbo, Sioux Valley, 88; 9) Tate Steffensen, Sioux Valley, 88; 10) Andrew Gerlach, Roncalli, 88.

What’s next for the Bulldogs? Milbank traveled to Watertown today, September 20, to take on the Arrows. Keep up with The Valley Express to see the results.
