The Lady Bulldogs tennis team of MHS has spent a lot of time on the road lately. They traveled to Sioux Falls and Madison to take on Rapid City Christian, Pierre, and Rapid City Stevens. Results from those matches include: 
Milbank — 1  vs.  Rapid City Christian — 8 

The Lady Bulldogs ended with a net loss of 8-1 to Rapid City Christian when the two teams took to the courts in Sioux Falls on Friday, September 16. 

In singles, senior Elsie Seffrood posted Milbank’s lone win. At No. 2, she defeated Marissa Heidecker at 6-4.  At No.1, Hope Karels was bested by Riley Geyer at 2-6. Amelia Pederson and Ashlynn Lamp, at No.3 and No. 4 respectively, were each outscored at 0-6. Jenna Korstjens, at No. 5, was edged out by Tetiana Ryherd at 7-5,and Caitlyn Frerichs was defeated at 6-0.
In doubles action, the Lady Bulldogs had three losses, but Karels and Seffrood gave Geyer and Heidecker trouble before going down at 7-8 (4-7).  Pederson and Lamp rallied, but were defeated 2-8, and Korstjens and Frerichs also put up a fight before taking the loss at 5-8.

Milbank traveled to Madison on Tuesday, September 13, to face the Pierre Lady Governors and the Rapid City Stevens Raiders at the Madison Invitational. 

Milbank — 0  vs.  Pierre — 9 

Against the Governors, Milbank took the “L” at 9-0. In singles play, Karels was defeated by Sydney Tedrow at 10-4.  Seffrood lost to Kara Wiess at 10-0. Pederson was defeated by Ella Fisk at 10-1.  Lamp lost to Jocelyn Corrales at 10- 2.  Korstjens went down to Kourtney Walti at 10-2, and Frerichs was defeated by Caitlin Ott at 10-0. 

In doubles,  Karels and Seffrood lost to Tedrow and Weiss at 10-2.  Pederson and Lamp were defeated by Fisk and Walti at 10-1. Korstjens and Frerichs came up short against  Corrales and Ott at 10-0. 

Milbank — 1  vs.  Rapid City Stevens — 8 

In singles play, Karels brought home a win for Milbank at No. 1 when she surprised Maddy Marsh at 10-8. 

Seffrood was defeated by Adelaide Morgan at 10-0. Pederson lost to Alley LaVake after a battle that ended at 10-9 (7-4).  Lamp was defeated by Natalie Miller at 10-2. Korstjens was ousted by Elaina Carpenter at 10-2, and Frerichs was downed by Evelyn Haar at 10-0. 

In doubles, at No. 1, the duo of Karels and Seffrood were defeated by Ali Scott and Peyton Ogle at 10-2. Pederson and Lamp lost to Bella Scott and Kaiya Parkin at 10-2.  Korstjens and Frerichs, at No. 3, were outmaneuvered by Anna Mueller and Lindsey Pfingston at 10-0. 

What’s next for the Lady Bulldogs?  Lennox and Aberdeen Roncalli visited Milbank for a triangular on Tuesday, September 20. Keep up with the Valley Express for those results.  The girls will now see a break in the action until they compete in South Dakota’s Class A tennis tournament in Rapid City on October 3-4.
