Milbank suffered a 3-0 loss to Deubrook on Tuesday, October 4, in White. Set scores were 17-25, 18-25, and 17-25.

Nancy Hoeke, head coach for MHS, commented, “Everything seemed to be off except our serving. We served 94 percent. We only missed three serves. But, there wasn’t any flow to our game, and it was tough to score. Deubrook’s defense was all over the place and kept balls alive that we needed to score on.”

Addisyn Krause led Milbank’s serving machine.  As a team, Milbank hit 49 of 52 for 94 percent with three aces. Krause hit 12 of 12 of those with one ace.Averie Engebretson was right behind her at 11 of 11 with one ace.  Rachel Schulte was eight of eight; Skyler Skoog, six of six; Ella Sandvig two of two; Abby Pillatzki, one of one; Emily Wollschlager, four of five; and Rylie Overby, five seven with an ace.

On the attack, Schulte went 37 of 40 hitting with nine kills to pave the way for Milbank. Claire Snaza was 13 of 21 with five kills; Laney Forrette, four of four with two kills; Isabella Anderson, six of seven with two kills;  Skoog, 11 of 16 with two kills;

Overby 13 of 14 with one kill; Casside Seezs, 10 of 11 with one kill; and Engebretson, 11 of 13 with one kill. 

Engebretson also added 18 assists on 61-61. Addisyn Krause made four assists on 28-28. Wollschlager and Engebretson, recorded the most digs. They each had 17. Schulte had 15. Krause,13; Pillatzki,12; and Skoog, nine.Snaza contributed one solo block and one assisted block.  Averie Engebretson and Rylie Overby added one assisted block apiece.

Milbank JV vs. Deubrook JV – October 4

The Lady Bulldogs’ JV team squared off with Deubrook in White on October 4. Milbank took the loss at 0-2. Set scores were 26-19 and 28-25. Coach Kelli Pillatzki observed, “We need to work on changing strategies and being alert.”

Abby Pillatzki and Rylee Scoular led the team in serving and setting. A Pillatzki completed 13 of 14 serving with two aces and went 42 of 42 setting with nine assists. Scoular was four of four serving with an ace and18 of 18 setting with two assists.

Isabella Anderson was 18 of 19 hitting with five kills. Claire Snaza went nine of 12 with four kills, and Kaitlyn Huber was one of two with one kill.
Ella Sandvig was tops in digs. She contributed 11. Siera Wenzl made six, and Scoular added five. Wenzl, Snaza, and Shaylee Schuchard each recorded a block.
Coach Pillatzki recalled, “The girls did a good job on playing close. They also did a good job of fighting to the end.”

Seventh Graders vs. Deubrook – October 4

Milbank’s seventh-grade volleyball team faced the Deubrook Lady Dolphins on October 4 in White.  The Lady Bulldogs brought home the win at 2-0. Set scores were 25-11 and 26-24. 

Belle Pauli was the top server at nine of 10 with three aces. Lydia Gall followed with five of six with an ace. Brooke Hendricks went four of six serves with two aces, and Jossalynn Speiring recorded four of six with one ace.
