Carl Maas, age 94, of Odessa, MN, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Ortonville Area Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa. The service will be lived streamed and recorded and viewable below this obituary.
Visitation will be on Monday beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Odessa.
Carl August Maas was born on April 6, 1928, in Marietta, MN. He was the son of August and Agnes (Schoenrock) Maas. He was baptized on May 17, 1928, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marietta, MN. He was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on March 29, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nassau, MN. Carl attended country school near Nassau, and Marietta High School.
Carl and Arlene Lund were united in marriage on August 23, 1953, and to this union six children were born. Carl and Arlene made a lifelong home on their farm near Odessa, MN. Carl was a dairy and grain farmer. He loved his farm and farmed until the age of 90.
Carl and Arlene went on many trips together. They also enjoyed watching the Twins, Timberwolves, and the Vikings. Carl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Odessa, MN, where he served as an elder and usher for many years.
Carl passed away on October 20, 2022, at the Ortonville Hospital at the age of 94. Carl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Arlene; his children: Bonnie (Don) Hendricks of Willmar, MN; Steve (Bonnie) Maas of Clinton, MN; Beth (Mark) Bloomquist of Willmar, MN; Scott (Laurie) Maas of Ortonville, MN; Connie (Vern) Anderson of Willmar, MN; eleven grandchildren: Ryan Hendricks, Brent (Tara) Hendricks, Jenny (Caleb) King, Amanda (Adam) McMahon, Andy Maas (Sarah Hill), Cody Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Sam Bloomquist (fiancé, Emily Skalla), Abby Anderson, Megan Bloomquist, Hayden Anderson; step-grandson, Landon Stallman; eight great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jackie Maas, Harlan (Erma) Lund, Donald (Vivette) Lund, and Gladys Uphoff; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; four brothers: Victor, Alvin, Bernard, and Otto; three sisters: Irene Maas, Elaine Kropuenske, and Rose Meyers.
