The MHS oral interp team competed in Pumpkinstakes on Saturday, October 29. The  oral interp, speech, and student congress meet is held each year in Watertown. 

Jericho Jones, Ivy Lewno, and Trixie Coalter advanced to finals. Lewno earned fourth place for varsity in Non-Original Oratory. Jones placed fifth in Novice Poetry, and Coalter placed sixth in Novice Drama. 

Brooke Schwagel was seated seventh after preliminary rounds, but missed the final cut by one spot. Avery VanOverbeke and Isabella Vogel were seated eighth in varsity Duet after the preliminary rounds. 

Cooper Hupke and Daneil Shelstad in Varsity Duet; Cooper Hupke and Gemma Street in Varsity Humor; and Caroline Chavez in Novice Drama also collected points for the Bulldogs.

Camila Monroy from the debate team also attended. She competed in student congress debate, the first student congress competition of the season. 

What’s next for the team? Head coach Natasha Karels, says, “We have two regular season meets remaining. We travel to Golden Eagle in Aberdeen this Friday, November 4, and to the Washington Warrior in Sioux Falls on Friday, November 11. Regions are coming up on Tuesday, November 15.
