Clara Pederson

Clara Pederson, 90, of Milbank passed away on October 31, 2022, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn will officiate. Visitation will be held at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the LaBolt Cemetery.

Clara Irene (Morton) Pederson was born on August 20, 1932, in rural LaBolt, SD. She was one of ten children born to Raymond and Violet (Packard) Morton.  She grew up in the LaBolt/Milbank area,and has been a life-long resident. Clara was so proud to finish her education by getting her GED later in life.

Clara was united in marriage with Richard Oliver Pederson on November 19, 1954, in LaBolt. They were blessed with two children: Sandra and Jeffery.

Clara was always the first at the table when it was time to play games! She especially enjoyed playing cards and was very competitive at winning. She would hum if things were not going in her favor! She loved to bake and her family will cherish the memories of her ginger snap and snickerdoodle cookies. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even at the age of 90, she knew the date when each child was born. She had a gentleness about her that her family will miss. She was so excited to have reached the age of 90 years! She was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Peter Girard of Canby, MN; five grandchildren: Brandon (Kristen) Girard, Ashia (Jared) Gustafson, Justin (Joanna) Girard, Nathan Pederson Taylor, and Shane Taylor; eight great-grandchildren: Matthew, Cameron, Rory, Emmett, Caitlyn, Addison, Cecilia, and Archer; four sisters: Blanche (Roland) Rohlfs of Ortonville, MN; Mildred (Gordon) Pederson of Milbank, SD; Betty (Donald) Schultz of Corona, SD; and Myra (Kenneth) Quade of Milbank, SD; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Violet; husband, Richard; son, Jeffery; and siblings: Helen (Myron) Seehafer, Berton (Mary) Morton, Dorothy (Kenneth) Johanson, Doris (Milo) Wendland, and Charles (Linda) Morton.
