He grew up on a farm near Corona, SD, and attended country school then attended Milbank High School. With a strong work ethic and the willingness to work hard, Sam went to work at the Red Owl Grocery Store and when it became Bill’s SuperValu, his hard work paid off and he was the Manager for the Frozen Foods and Dairy sections of the store. He also worked at Cass Clay and United Hardware for a time. Sam was a kind soul and always put others before himself. One example of this was how he would make his wife, Heather, a cup of coffee every morning while she got ready for work. He also made sure Booker, the dog, had plenty of belly rubs daily. Sam attempted to make meals for his family in the time he spent at home and these cooking and baking ventures sure made for great laughs and conversation. Sam was very much a people person; striking up conversations with anyone and everyone. He was good for talking about the Minnesota Vikings or telling a good joke that would bring out his smile and great laugh. Throughout the years, Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle or four-wheeler, jamming out to music, watching “The Price Is Right”, and thoroughly enjoyed throwing in dart league. He enjoyed a good card game with his family or a fun trip to the casino brought a sparkle to Sam’s blue eyes. Most of all, Sam loved being a father and watching Carter grow into a young man brought him so much joy. Sam is survived by his wife, Heather Folk of Milbank, SD; son, Carter Folk of Milbank, SD; his siblings: Debra (Bill) Nelson of St. Paul, MN; Randy (Marilyn) Folk of Milbank, SD; Nick (Sara) Folk of St. Paul, MN; Scott Folk of Milbank, SD; and Denise (Randy) Kasuske of Twin Brooks, SD; father-in-law, Gene Kolkman of Westby, WI; mother-in-law, Marian (Harold) Kalass of Cottonwood, MN; brother-in-law, Kevin Rademacher of Rosen, MN; sisters-in-law: Tiffany (Cal) Teske of Cottonwood, MN; and Jessica (Darrell) Eicholtz of Watertown, SD; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Albert and Lucille Folk; brother, Andy Folk; and sister, Peggy Rademacher.
