Maurina Street Gets 1000th Point in Victory at Dell Rapids

The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Quarriers, 65-44, on Saturday, January 14, in Dell Rapids. Isabella Anderson pumped out 19 points to blaze a trail for Milbank. Maurina Street, a senior, scored 18 points and brought down five rebounds. Street punctuated her performance by dropping in the 1000th point of her high school career. She became just the fifth female basketball player in MHS history to cross this threshold. (See full story here on The Valley Express.)

Tyra Berry made 11 points and Siera Wenzl added eight. Anderson, Wenzl, and Berry each hit one bucket from beyond the arc. Josie Riveland added another three-pointer.

Milbank’s shots were on target  60 percent of the time in each half of the game. Dell Rapids was  successful in only one out of three of their field goal attempts. They made 17 of 53 to finish at 32 percent.

Claire Wynja was the top scorer for Dell Rapids. She had 13 points, including three three-pointers.  Elly Olson and Liz Price each added seven points. Kerrigan Kindopp had six points – all from beyond the arc.  

What’s next? The Lady Bulldogs host Waubay-Summit on January 17.

C Team

Milbank 30 vs. Dell Rapids 21

The Lady Bulldogs’ C team is rockin’ and rollin’ this season. They now sit at 5-0 after defeating Dell Rapids, 30-21, on January 14.

Avery Schuneman knocked in 15 points, including five of her six free throw attempts.Adison Pauli and Belle Pauli each scored four. Zayda Townsend xxx three, and Lydia Gall and Brooke Hendricks put up two apiece.

K. Stykel made 11 points for  the Lady Quarriers, including three three-pointers. K. Kremer made seven, and K. LeBrun tossed in three.
