The Lady Bulldogs tamed the Lady Mustangs of Waubay-Summit, 46-41, on Tuesday, January 17, at home. Milbank notched their fifth victory in a row. Lady Bulldog Maurina Street led both teams in scoring and registered a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Eva Benike of Waubay-Summit was next with 18 points.
Bulldog Isabella Anderson rounded out the top three scorers with 11. Anderson earned most of her points off the clock. She downed eight of 10 free throws to boost Milbank’s average at the line to 72 percent.
Tyra Berry added eight points and three rebounds for Milbank. Claire Snaza grabbed six rebounds and put up five points. Kailee Berger of Waubay-Summit tossed in seven points, Peyton Rumpza made four, and Nikki Hoeger hit one field goal.
Milbank trailed 15-16 at the half, but they fired in 18 points in the third quarter to lead 33-25 by the end of the third. The Lady Stangs tried the same strategy in the fourth and managed to drop in 16 points, but the Lady Bulldogs stayed steady and hung on to take the win at 46-41.
