Jack TerDenge, an eighth grader, was chosen as the sixth chair French horn, and Rylan Wendland, a seventh grader, was chosen as an eighth chair percussionist for South Dakota’s 24th Middle School All-State Band. The concert will feature over 200 middle school musicians in Huron on March 4. Over 540 students from 75 schools auditioned.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. in the theater at Huron High School. Admission is $5 for adults. Tickets will be available at the door the afternoon of the concert. Students 18 and under are admitted free.  

Dr. Alan LaFave of Valley City State University will direct the Honor Band, and Jeff Patzlaff, former band director at Platte-Geddes will direct the Festival Band.

The concert is presented by the South Dakota Music Education Association. Susan Karels, band instructor for the grades six to 12 bands in the Milbank School District, will accompany the students to the event.
