Kathy Boerger, age 82, of Milbank, SD, passed away on January 3, 2023, at St. William’s Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with a prayer vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday.

Kathleen Emma (Binsfeld) Boerger was born on March 5, 1940, at home in Big Stone City, SD. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Tschumperlin) Binsfeld. Kathy graduated from Big Stone City High School and became a telephone operator.

Kathy was united in marriage with Gerald Boerger on November 14, 1959, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City. They were blessed with four children: Lisa, Luke, Brenda, and Jeanine.

Kathy was a loving wife and homemaker. She was a proud member of TOPS and truly enjoyed socializing with any and everyone.  She found joy in feeding others and the birds, baking, canning tomatoes and pickles and spending time mowing the yard. Kathy was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Kathy’s children often called her their “Prayer Warrior”; if they ever wanted extra prayers, they would call her and ask her to pray with them or for them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lisa (Scott) Torness of Big Stone City, SD; Luke (Wendy) Boerger of Milbank, SD; Brenda (Thad) Jenner of Tea, SD; and Jeanine (Scott) Lewno of Milbank, SD; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer (Audrey) Binfeld of Big Stone City, SD; brother-in-law, Darwin Bonn of Sartell, MN; and sisters-in-law: Betty Binsfeld of Big Stone City, SD; and Joan (LaVerne) Berkner of Milton, WI.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; son-in-law, Daniel Landmark; parents, William and Elizabeth; sister, Rose Mary Bonn; and brother, Richard Binsfeld.
