The Lady Bulldogs breezed to a 65-41 win against Deuel on Thursday, January 26, to up their winning streak to seven games in a row. Milbank has not lost a game in 2023. Their last defeat came on December 29 to Florence-Henry, the No. 7 ranked team in the state. 

Can Milbank keep their momentum going and add number eight to their win column? Find out tomorrow  when the Lady Bulldogs meet the Dakota Valley Lady Panthers (4-9) at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.

At Clear Lake, Maurina Street, Isabella Anderson, and Siera Wenzl all reached double figures against the Lady Cardinals. Street powered in 21 points. Anderson had 15 coupled with six rebounds. Wenzl put up 11 points and reined in three rebounds for the offense. She drilled in nine of her points from three-point range. Tyra Berry was close behind with nine points and three rebounds.

Claire Snaza added four points and recorded three rebounds. Ellie Neugebauer put in three points and grabbed four rebounds. Josie Riveland knocked in a field goal and ruled three rebounds.

Milbank was also hot from the free throw line. They downed eight of their 10 attempts for 80 percent.They churned out a 44 percent average from the floor, including 25 percent from beyond the arc. 

Josie Andersen put up 10 points for the Cardinals. Kaitlyn Gubrud and Jalyn Bury each made nine. Jaycee Hourigan had five points and three rebounds. Harley Hennings added four points  Camdyn Peterreins and Haydyn Wiesner contributed two points apiece.

Deuel made 40 percent of their shots from the floor, including one of three from long range.They landed five of their seven free throws for 71 percent.
The Lady Bulldogs’ record now sits at  8-3 for the season. They are ranked second in Region 1 at 4-1 and at No. 17 in Division A. Milbank’s head coach is Brian Pauli. Tony Howard, Eric Townsend, and Kelli Pillatzki serve as assistant coaches.

What’s next in girls hoops?  Milbank and Dakota Valley meet on Saturday, January 28 at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. The Panthers of North Sioux City, Iowa, are coming off a 48-60 loss to Sioux Falls Christian last night. The games start at 11:30 a.m.
