Lady Bulldogs Clash with Tea in Madison

The Lady Bulldogs competed in the 2023 NEC-Dak XII Clash in Madison on Saturday, February 3. Ten girls basketball teams from the Dakota XII and 10 teams from the Northeast Conference battled each other in a full day of hoops. Milbank faced Tea Area, but came away with the loss at 40-49.
The Lady Bulldogs led 25-24 at halftime and at 34-31 at the end of three. Tea then poured in 17 points in the fourth quarter, while holding Milbank to just six, to finish strong.
Maurina Street put up 14 points and seven rebounds for Milbank. Isabella Anderson posted seven points, two rebounds, and three steals. Josie Riveland made six points, three rebounds, and three steals. She dropped in two three-point shots. Siera Wenzl added five points and two rebounds; Claire Snaza, four points and three rebounds; Tyra Berry, three points and a rebound. Ellie Neugebauer made a free throw and snagged three rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs connected on 39 percent of their shots from the floor, including five of 11 from three-point range for 45.5 percent. They made 60 percent of their free throws.
Mara Grant produced 17 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Lady Titans. Katie Vasecka scored 13 points. Miah Weber had eight. Kendra McKinney led Tea in rebounds with six.
The Lady Titans hit 42 percent of the their shots. They struggled from long range and bagged only two of 11 from three-point range. They fared better from the free throw line, where they hit nine of 11 for 82 percent.
What’s next for the Lady Bulldogs? Milbank hosts Sisseton tonight in a doubleheader. It’s also DARE Night. Plus, check out the fifth grade girls and boys, when they scrimmage during halftime during both varsity games.
