The 73rd Annual South Dakota All-State Band will be held at O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls from March 23-25. The members of the bands were determined during six statewide auditions throughout the state. Ellie Neugebauer, Joe Schulte, and Rachel Schulte were selected from Milbank.
Ellie, a senior and daughter of Justin and Pam Neugebauer, will play in the Lewis band as 19th chair clarinet. Joe and Rachel, both juniors and children of Dave and Elizabeth Schulte, were selected for the Clark Band. Joe will play the 2nd chair euphonium and Rachel will be seated as the 14th chair clarinet.
The 2023 South Dakota All-State Bands will be under the direction of Andrew Boysen from the University of New Hampshire and Robert Sheldon, a composer and conductor from Florida.
The MHS students will be accompanied to Sioux Falls by Susan Karels, band director for grades 6-12 in the Milbank School District. Deb Rausch served as an assistant for the all-state band lessons.
