The Lady Bulldogs basketball team faced Sisseton, the No.1 ranked team in Region 1A, on Tuesday, February 7, at the Milbank Armory. Sisseton, who is currently ranked at No.12 in the state, took the win at 61-25. 

Maurina Street put up 11 points and five rebounds for Milbank. Isabella Anderson followed with nine points and two rebounds. Claire Snaza and Ellie Neugebauer each scored two points and snagged a rebound. Josie Riveland added one point and two rebounds. Snaza, Street, and Neugebauer pulled off a steal apiece. Siera Wenzl nicked two.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled to score from the floor and ended with an 18 percent shooting average. They were much stronger from the free throw line, where they downed four of six for nearly 67 percent.

Krista Langager dumped in 18 points to lead Sisseton’s offense. She also had seven rebounds. Emmalee Nielsen made 11 points and secured four rebounds. Hannah Leverson and Chloe Langager each scored seven points. C. Langager grabbed seven rebounds and Leverson got five.

The Lady Redmen hit 52 percent of their shots, including 37 percent from long range. They also hit four of their six free shots for nearly 67 percent.

What’s next for the Lady Bulldogs? Milbank travels across the state line to take on the Lady Trojans (1-16) of Ortonville on Thursday, February 9.
