The Lady Bulldogs clawed their way back into their game against Tri-Valley on February 11 by pouring in 21 points in the fourth quarter to tie things up at 50. Milbank had trailed 28-19 at halftime and 40-29 at the end of three.

In overtime, Milbank scored seven points to Tri-Valley’s 10. The Lady Mustang’s claimed the win at 60-57.  Although, they didn’t get the “W”, Bulldog fans got their money’s worth in excitement and the chance to watch Maurina Street pump in 31 points — her season high.

Street made her points the old-fashioned way. She hit seven 2-point shots and nailed 14 of 14 free throws. She also added a 3-pointer, five rebounds, and five steals to her totals. 

Tyra Berry scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds and a steal. Siera Wenzl made six points and snagged two rebounds and two steals. Isabella Anderson put up five points and five rebounds. She also pinched one steal. Claire Snaza contributed four points and three rebounds. Josie Riveland chipped in two rebounds.

During five periods, Milbank downed 37 percent of their shots, including 27 percent from beyond the arc. They hit 21 of their 24 attempts from the free-throw line to cash in on 87.5 percent.

Tri-Valley had three players in double figures. Madelyn Wenzel led the team with 16 points and four rebounds. Lauren Grinde was next with 14 points, one rebound, and three steals. Stephanie Buchmann followed with 10 points and a rebound. Hillary Hastings and Hailey Sorenson each added six points and two rebounds.

As a team, the Mustangs connected on 36.5 percent of their shots, including 43.5 percent from long range. They capitalized on 12 of their 15 free-throw attempts to finish at 80 percent.

What’s next for the Lady Bulldogs? Milbank travels to Webster on Thursday, February 17.  Then, the girls celebrate Senior Night during halftime of the boys basketball game against Webster Area at the Milbank Armory on Friday, February 17.

C -Team Game Milbank Area 13 vs. Tri-Valley 29 
Belle Pauli led the Lady Bulldogs C team with seven points in their game against Tri-Valley on Saturday, February 11, in Milbank. Milbank took the loss at  29-13. 

Kennedi Sayler made three points with a bomb from long range.  Avery Schuneman scored two points, and Zayda Townsend downed a free throw.  As a team, the Lady Bulldogs hit four of their eight attempts from the free throw line for 50 percent. 

Two Tri-Valley players — D. Fluth and K. Davey — put up nine points.  B. Larson and E. Jones added four points apiece.  M. Boese contributed three points to the Lady Mustang’s total.
