Lynda Jean Wojahn, of Milbank, SD, passed away after a short illness, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the age of 74, at Avantara- Milbank.

Per Lynda’s request, there will not be any local services. Her only request was to have a private, family burial in the Revillo, SD Cemetery, at a later date.

Lynda was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, to parents Lyle and Ann (Jorgensen) Scollon. She graduated from Washington High School. Lynda was united in marriage to Calvin Wojahn on April 7, 1967. They made their home on the family homestead near Revillo, SD. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Rhonda and Shari. After her husband, Calvin’s passing, she moved to Milbank, SD.

After spending many years as a “stay-at-home mom,” Lynda worked at the Grant-Deuel School as the head cook for several years. She continued working as a housekeeper at St. William’s Nursing Home until her retirement.

Lynda had many wonderful talents. As a seamstress, she made many matching outfits for her daughters, needlepoint, crocheted afghans, and many beautiful quilts. She made special t-shirt quilts for her grandchildren for their graduations and other special events. Her latest handiwork was making dresses and other items for the Orphan Grain Train. She was an excellent cook, baker, and raised gorgeous flowers. Some of her favorite memories were metal detecting with her sisters and taking road trips with her mother and sisters. Grandma Lynda also enjoyed fun trips with her daughters and grandchildren. She was always up for a road trip and meals out. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting and music events and family gatherings. Lynda had a quick wit to the end. She filled these past several years with uptown visits with the Ice Cream Girls, lunches out with friends, Black Friday Shopping, family celebrations, a fun road trip to Colorado, out-smarting her daughters with crossword puzzles, and providing silly comebacks. She will be missed by so many friends and family.

Lynda is survived by her daughters: Rhonda Stengel of Milbank, SD; and Shari (Grant) Street of Revillo, SD; grandchildren: Nathan (Corinne) and Alex (Jackie) Stengel of Milbank, SD; Chris (Desi) and Spencer (Melissa) of Revillo, SD; and Mikayla Street of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren: Braeden, Grayson, Sawyer, Amelia, and baby on the way; her sister, Pat Shrader, OR; in-laws: Lila Wojahn, Marion and Bill Meyer, Wanda Elvecrog, Larry and Pam Wojahn, Lowell and Liz Wojahn, and Harlan Wick; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
