Jack terDenge, an eighth-grader and french horn player, and Rylan Wendland, a seventh-grade percussionist, represented Milbank Middle School in South Dakota’s 24th Annual Middle School All-State Band. The event was held in Huron on March 3-4.  

The Milbank musicians were members of the Honor Band under the direction of Dr. Alan LaFave. LaFave is the president of Valley City University. Some of the selections from the culminating concert included: “Anchors Away”, “Encanto, Forefathers”, “Whiplash”, “With Quiet Courage”, and “Trombone Tiger Rag”.

Susan Karels, band instructor for grades 6-12 in the Milbank School District, accompanied the students to the event. Friends and family members also attended the concert.
