Virgilia “Jill” Hoxtell, age 74, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at her home.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be held on one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Rev. Barbara McKewin will officiate the service and a light luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the Big Stone City Community Center.

Virgilia May (Sigler) Hoxtell was born at home on the farm rural Clinton, MN, to Alvin and Fern (Schlimme) Sigler on May 23, 1948. Jill grew up in the Clinton community where she attended and graduated from Clinton High School. While attending school, she worked as a waitress at “Kate’s Café”.After graduation, Jill started her banking career at Clinton State Bank. Her son, Darin, was born on July 27, 1966. They moved to Big Stone City, SD, where Jill continued her career at the Big Stone Bank until her retirement. Jill was united in marriage to James Hoxtell on June 17, 1992. Along with this marriage, Jill gained 2 bonus daughters, Heather and Amelia Hoxtell.

Left to cherish Jill’s memory is her husband, James of Big Stone City, SD, son, Darin (Shanda) Sigler of Pipestone, MN; step-daughter, Heather Hoxtell (Jeff Peters) of Ortonville, MN; step-daughter, Amelia (Tyrel) Hoppe of Milaca, MN; granddaughters: Joslynne (Stephen) Kolakowski, Courtney Schellberg (Seth Deutsch), Caitlynn Schellberg (Peter Treinen), and Hailey Hoppe Callin; brothers: Wayne Sigler, Randy (Jeannette) Sigler, Ricky Sigler, and Terry (Roxanne) Sigler; sisters: Sharon(Robert) Steltz, Karen (Bruce) Esplien, Arloa “Oogie” (Mark) Ronglien, Ileta Herberg, Kathy (Joey) Stattelman;  numerous nieces and nephews; aunts: Merla (Teen) Schlimme, Verna Schlimme, Karen Schlimme, and Dorothy Sales; and many cousins.

Jill was preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Fern; brothers, Todd Sigler and Wallace “Butch” Sigler.
