Violinists Joseph and Traci Tschetter and cellist Teaneashea Vogel, performed with the South Dakota Middle School All-State Orchestra on March 10-11 at Jefferson High School in Sioux Falls. The event had been rescheduled from February due to inclement weather. Joseph and Traci are the children of Ryan and Elaine Tschetter. Teaneashea is the daughter of Josh and Pamela Vogel.
James Weaver served as the conductor. Weaver is a native of Aberdeen and is currently the Director of Performing Arts and Sports for the National Federation of State High School Associations based in Indianapolis.
Students rehearsed Thursday evening and on Friday before the culminating evening concert. The orchestra performed “Dance of the Tumblers” by Rimksy-Korsakov, “M to the Third Power” by Carold Nunez, “Reverie” by James Corigliano, the Finale from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 arranged by Brian Holmes, and “Blue Rhythmico” by Kirt Mosier..Elizabeth Schulte, the Milbank students’ instructor, also attended the string symposium for South Dakota strings teachers. The symposium is held annually in conjunction with the all-state event.
