Everyone is invited to a pancake feed to celebrate National Ag Day on Tuesday, March 21. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, and coffee will be served from 7:30-10 a.m. at the Grant County 4-H complex at 517 Flynn Drive in Milbank. A free will donation will be collected.

A portion of the proceeds goes to Grant County 4-H and the Milbank FFA Chapter. Door prizes will be given away and educational infographics by the local FFA and 4-H members will be on display.

After enjoying your hearty breakfast, stick around to see agronomists Brian and Darren Hefty of Hefty Seeds. The brothers and hosts of Ag PHD TV present a seminar on drainage and tiling from 10:30 -11:30 a.m.

The Grant CountyCommissioners and courthouse staff are the hosts of the seminar. Steve Berkner, Grant County’s drainage officer, said, “We have been looking for an appropriate time to put on an agriculture drainage workshop. We heard about the Chamber’s Ag Day pancake breakfast and the timing was perfect.”

The county is also collaborating with the Chamber to host a seminar with Chris Walters of West-Con Cooperative. Catch Walters’ seminar on grain bin entry safety at 11:30 a.m.

At noon, stay for a light lunch of BBQs and chips, which will also be served at the 4-H complex. Then, head out to the live demonstration of a grain engulfment rescue at West-Con Cooperative. West-Con is located at 47229 US Highway 12 in Twin Brooks.

The 2023 National Ag Day celebrates 50 years of recognizing the abundance provided by American agriculture. “Thank you, farmers, for all you do; we’re so fortunate to have dedicated growers and producers who feed our nation,” said Sara Koepke, adviser for the Grant County 4-H Youth Program.
