Karon Giese, age 84, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on March 24, 2023, at Meadow Lane Restorative Care Center in Benson, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Hope Fellowship Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral. Rev. David Homrighausen will officiate, and burial will be at Clinton City Cemetery.

Karon Sandra Giese was born on August 27, 1938, in Akron Township, Big Stone County, MN, to Sylas and Josephine (Swenson) Weeding. She attended country school and Appleton High School, graduating with the Class of 1956.

On February 14, 1957, she was united in marriage with Ronald Roy Giese at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville. To this union two daughters, Sherrie and Mary, and three sons, Tim, Tom, and Brad, were born. Together, they made their home on a farm seven miles north of Ortonville. They raised a variety of animals including dairy cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks, and geese. Her greatest passion was registered Arabian horses which she loved breeding, showing, and riding.

Karon was a member of the Appleton Saddle Club and enjoyed riding in trail rides and parades. She enjoyed playing on a softball team with her daughters and was the main pitcher for the team. She enjoyed watching her sons’ sporting events, fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles and even attended the Sturgis Rally.

Karon is survived by her daughters: Sherrie Giese of Ortonville, MN; Mary (Gary) Haugen of Clinton, MN; sons: Tim (Michelle) Giese of Ortonville, MN; Tom (Mary) Giese of Starbuck, MN; Brad (Anne-Marie) Giese of Hager City, WI; sister, Joanne Schmeichel; brother, Gene Weeding; sister-in-law, Arlyce Weeding of Ortonville, MN; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parent: Sylas and Josephine; husband, Ronnie in 1989; grandson, Zach; sisters: her twin sister, Sharon Clifton, Doreen Weeding, Carol Lind, and Gayle Weber; brother, Gaylord Weeding; sister-in-law, Janet Weeding; brothers-in-law: Art Weber, Marvin Schmeichel, and Bill Clifton.
