MHS Tennis Team Gets First Win

The Bulldogs tennis team traveled to Yankton for a triangular on Thursday, April 6. Abbey Trapp, head coach for Milbank, said, “This was the first time the boys have been on a real court this season due to weather. The Bulldogs fell short to Yankton in the overall team score, but they won 20-plus games against them — an improvement from last year.” The Bulldogs also faced Vermillion and defeated them 7-2 to bring home their first “W” of the season.

“All the boys were hitting great shots and playing very well,” Trapp, commented. “This win has the boys excited for the season and to get the snow off our courts.”

In varsity singles play, at No. 1, Joe Schulte (MI) defeated Caiden Mandernach 10-1. Greg Grabow (MI) defeated Lucas Green 11-10 (7-4). Will Snaza (MI) took down Grant Freeling 10-2. Charles Whitesitt (MI) defeated Caleb Reins 10-2. Hayden Fogelman (VE) defeated Isaiah Korstjens 10-4, and Mason Freeling (VE) defeated Dan Shelstad 10-8.
In JV singles, Will Muelenbach (MI)) defeated Theo Wittmuss 10-4. Tanner Hallquist (MI) took down Logan Tepe 8-6.
In varsity doubles, Schulte and Snaza (MI) defeated Mandernach and G. Freeling 10-3  Grabow and Whtesitt (MI) defeated M. Freeling and Reins 10-2. Korstjens and Muellenbach (MI) defeated Fogelman and Corbin Heckins 10-3. .
In JV doubles, Shelstad and Hallquist (MI) defeated Tepe and Unavailable 10-6.

Miles Krajewski (YA)  defeated Charles Whitesitt 10-3. Jack Pederson (YA) defeated Isaiah Korstjens 10-0. Luke Moeller (YA) defeated Dan Shelstad 10-1.
In JV play, Ethan Marsh (YA) defeated Will Muellenbach 10-4. Hunter Eggen (YA) defeated Tanner Hallquist 10-1.
In varsity doubles, Briggs and H. Krajewski (YA) defeated Schulte and Snaza 10-1. Rockne and Pederson (YA) defeated Grabow and Whitesitt 10-3. M. Krajewski and Marsh defeated Korstjens and Muellenbach 10-3. 
In JV doubles, Moeller and Eggen (YA) defeated Shelstad and Hallquist 10-5.
