Gregory Lee Nielsen, age 66, of South Shore passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 16th, 2023.

Visitation will be at Wight and Comes Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 21, from 4:30-7:30 pm.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 22, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown, SD. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Joe Nielsen, Nick Nielsen, Kris Bronson, Tony Kneeland, Luke Grabow and Kevin Bronson.
Memorials may be given to South Shore Community Development.

Greg (Guernsey) Nielsen was born May 28, 1956, to Adolph and Colleen Nielsen of Twin Brooks, SD. He grew up on a farm between Twin Brooks and South Shore and wouldn’t trade it for the world. He was the only boy with three sisters and graduated from South Shore High School in 1974.
Greg was married to Nannette Holt on November 26th, 1977 for 20 years and had 3 beautiful children. He drove truck all his life. He owned his own truck for 20 years, then continued trucking for Dedicated Logistics for the past 25 years. He was respected and valued throughout the company and by all his customers.

Greg had a love for music and enjoyed playing guitar and singing karaoke. He was involved in the South Shore Hee-Haw show from the very beginning. As a loving family man, he enjoyed attending his grandkid’s various activities and events throughout the years and attending family gatherings. Greg took pride in being a very resourceful man when it came to fixing anything. He claimed to be a YouTube-certified mechanic.

Greg married Rhonda Kimble on May 12th, 2018. They enjoyed dancing and singing karaoke together.  He gained many stepchildren and grandchildren that he loved spending time with.

Greg is survived by his wife Rhonda; son Joe (Heather) Nielsen of Crooks, SD; daughter Angie Scotting of Estelline, SD; son Nick (Brandy) Nielsen of Crooks, SD; sisters Brenda (Milo) Grabow of Rapid City, SD and Kathy (Todd) Brink of Summit, SD; 8 grandchildren; 7 step-children; 19 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many loving cousins who he was very close to.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Nielsen, mother Colleen Nielsen, sister Dianne Nielsen, brother-in-law Kevin Bronson, and nephew, Kerry Bronson.

Arrangements by Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.
