The Milbank tennis team lost a close and intense Battle of the Bulldogs on Monday, April 17, in Madison. Milbank was nosed out 5-4.

Abbey Trapp, head coach for Milbank, commented on the skirmish “The boys fought for every point. There were five tie-breakers played. That is the most I have seen in a match.  I could not be more proud of how the guys played. They never gave up!”

In singles play, the two teams split wins. At No. 1, Joe Schulte took the loss against Mason Kennington 6-3 and 6-7 (7-2).  At No. 2, Greg Grabow got a win against Spencer Reverts 7-6 (12-10) and 6-0.  At No. 3, Will Snaza earned a victory against Elijah Sims at 6-1, 1-6, and 10-7. At the No. 4 slot, Charles Whitesitt took down Chase Steuerwab at 6-4 and 6-2. Tanner Hallquist at No. 5, took a loss to Taiden Pierce 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4). Dan Shelstad dropped to Maguire Studer 0-6 and 7-5.

In doubles action, Schulte and Snaza were defeated by Kennington and Sims 4-6, 6-4, and 10-7. Grabow and Whitesitt were also defeated 6-1 and 6-4. Hallquist and Will Muellenbach got the victory for the Bulldogs against Pierce and Studer at 4-6, 6-0, and 10-4.
What’s next? Milbank travels to Aberdeen on Tuesday, April 18, to take on Roncalli and Huron.
