Jody Marie Welberg was born on November 7, 1963, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Ray and Leona (Lindeman) Martin. Jody grew up in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School, graduating with the Class of 1982. She attended Vo-Tech in Alexandria, MN. Jody was united in marriage with Kevin Welberg on September 3, 1983, in Milbank.

Jody and Kevin made their home in Milbank. They lived a few years in Selby, SD, and joyfully returned to Milbank in1998. Jody worked at St. William’s Care Center, Dan’s Pharmacy, Conroy Eye Care, and The Bird Feeder. Her most important job was caring for and loving her family. Jody loved being a mother to her children: Jordan, Rebecca, Taylor, Rhianna, and baby Allison in heaven. She never missed a school event and was always there cheering with a snack for the kids and her camera in hand! She was deeply devoted to her family. She put so much thought into every gift she gave and took great delight in watching her gifts be opened. She was a detailed planner, was extremely organized, and loved making others feel special with her gifts and acts of love. Her dreams came true when she was awarded the title of “Nana.” The birth of twin grandsons was a wonderful blessing and she loved them both so very much. She also loved her “grand kitties” and enjoyed spending time with them!

Jody could have been a “professional” shopper; she took shopping very seriously and was extremely good at it! She had a wonderful sense of fashion and home décor style.. She put great thought and time into picking out the perfect gift for others. She loved to bake. She enjoyed spending time outside, tinkering in her garden and with her terrarium.

Jody had a deep-rooted faith and her faith helped her with her courageous three-year battle with cancer. She fought until her dear Lord called her home.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kevin of Milbank, SD; her children: Jordan (Rochelle) Welberg of Milbank, SD; Rebecca Welberg of Milbank, SD; Taylor Welberg, (fiancé, Sydney Arrington) of Sioux Falls, SD; and Rhianna Welberg of Grand Junction, CO; two grandsons: Emmitt and Owen Welberg; two sisters: Brenda (Dan) VanOsdel of Yankton, SD; and Debbie Hausman of Yankton, SD; her father-in-law, Keith Welberg of Milbank, SD. Jody was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Leona; her infant daughter, Allison; one brother, Kim Martin; and her mother-in-law, Lois Welberg.
