The MHS track and field teams sent a select group of athletes to compete in the Webster Quad on Monday, May 8. The quadrangular came on the heels of a busy week for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs when their schedule also included the Valley Queen Cheese Meet, the Sisseton Twilight Meet, and the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. Eric Townsend, head coach for Milbank said, “We took a smaller portion of our team to Webster, but combined those athletes earned 23 season bests. For the athletes that went, it was a great opportunity to compete in another meet.”  

At Webster, Layten Osowski brought home third place in the Triple Jump by reaching 35′ 1″. He also took seventh place in the Long Jump. Oliver Korth took third place in the Discus competition with his throw of 111′ 6″. Jose Ramirez was third in the 1600-Meter Run with his time of 5:37.63. He also took fourth place in the 800-Meter Run at 2:29.55.

Sam Rick came in at seventh place in the 100-Meter Dash. Jacob Giles was eighth. Rick also came in at seventh-place in the 200-Meter Dash. Josh Pederson earned fifth place in the Triple Jump and eighth place in the Long Jump. 

Avery Van Overbeke took eighth place in the shot with his put of 33′ 9″. Moises Luna Sanchez took sixth place in the Discus with his throw of 98′ 0″. In the Javelin –a new event this year for Milbank –Esteban Abrego captured fifth place with his toss of 99′ 3″. Osowski was sixth with his 93′ 7″ throw. Jesus Padilla Ramirez came in at No. 8.

What’s next  for Milbank?  The Northeast Conference meet for the pole vault division took place in Webster today, Wednesday, May 10.  The Northeast Conference meet for all other events takes place tomorrow, Thursday, May 11 in Groton. That meet starts at 11 am.   
“Both teams (MHS boys and girls) are in a great position to make a run for another Northeast Conference team championship, Townsend commented. “I hope we have our best meet of the season and bring another championship back to Milbank.”
