The  Milbank Fire and Rescue Department put out three fires in four hours on Wednesday, May 3. Fire Chief David Giesen said, “At approximately 1 p.m., we were dispatched to Hwy 15 and 138th Street for a controlled burn that got away from the landowner. James Madsen was burning CRP land when the fire got away from him and spread into bean and corn stubble fields.” The Milbank Fire and Rescue team stayed on the scene for about an hour.

Chief Giesen said, “The second call came in at 4:30 p.m. A  grassfire was reported to be burning in a field at 159th and 476th near LaBolt. Crews from Stockholm and Revillo provided mutual aid.” Crews remained on the scene for approximately an hour. 

“As we were en route to LaBolt, we were paged to 47647 144th Street for a grassfire that had spread to some hay bales. The Corona Fire Department assisted Milbank.  Crews remained on scene for about 90 minutes.
